Taylor Dayne is an American pop icon. With a career spanning three decades, Taylor’s groundbreaking debut single “Tell It To My Heart” turned her into an overnight international star in 1987. She followed the smash hit with seventeen Top 20 singles over the course of her three-decade career, including Number Ones “Love Will Lead You Back” “Prove Your Love” and “I’ll always Love You.” Taylor has sold over 75 million albums and singles worldwide, earned three GRAMMY nominations, an American Music Award, multiple New York Music Awards, received New York Music Hall of Fame honors and ranked as the Number 18 Female Dance artist of all time by Rolling Stone magazine. She is one of the very few artists in musical history to successfully crossover into almost every musical genre and chart with hit singles in Pop, Dance, R&B, Adult contemporary and Rock.
Equally recognized for her songwriting talent, Taylor wrote many of her own hits as well as Tina Turner’s “Whatever You Want.” With a truly distinctive vocal style and powerful range, she created a unique vocal sound all her own that defined an era by her music. As the late 80s moved into the 90s, her chart-topping songs came with her. Her cover of Barry White’s “Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love” and “Send Me A Lover” brought a strength and power to a female voice seldom heard in history. Taylor’s international radio and record success along with her stage presence and world tours took her musical message of love and passion straight to the heart of her fans and audiences worldwide.
By the late 90s, Taylor’s career grew further as an actress. She appeared in film, TV and stage, from Broadway favorites like Elton John’s award-winning production of “Aida,” and Mel Brooks “Archie” and “Mehitable,” to working with legendary composer Jules Styne to reprise the role of Fanny Brice on Broadway. Taylor also appeared in movies including “Love Affair” with Warren Beatty and Annette Benning and co-starred in Denis Leary's TV drama “Rescue Me”. She also starred in the HBO film “STAG” and co-starred on Showtime's original series “Rude Awakening” while continuing to record, write and produce her last two studio records “ Naked Without You" and “Satisfied,” which gave her Number 1 “Beautiful” and top 10 chart hit “Unstoppable." Her growth as an artist was enhanced by the birth of her twins in early 2002.
Her voice became stronger and more meaningful as she took on single motherhood, empowerment, surrogacy and parenthood head-on, becoming a voice and an advocate for working woman, same-sex marriage, parenting and fertility. Her 2016 TEDWoman talk opened her career to more speaking engagements, inspirational and monumental moments, and paved the way to her soon to be released memoir.
In 2018, Taylor will celebrate her 30-year anniversary release of “Tell It To My Heart,” embarking on a national "Tell it To My Heart” tour for fans to celebrate with her, along with the release of anticipated new music, new remixes, and her memoir “Tell It To My Heart.”
Jennifer Paige originally rose to pop stardom in the late 90s, catapulted by a deal at Hollywood Records and the multi-platinum hit single, “Crush,” which sold 11 million copies and went #1 in 16 countries. Paige toured the world in support of her self-titled debut album and its follow up, Positively Somewhere. Her third solo album, Best Kept Secret, featuring the hit, “Beautiful Lie,” was written and recorded with Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys. Paige enjoyed touring in Europe, but it was a life-changing year for Paige.
In January 2008, shortly after Paige had relocated from Los Angeles to Nashville where her parents also lived, her mother passed away. Two weeks later, her father died unexpectedly. “They were my biggest supporters, always cheering me on”, says Paige, “and it just took the wind out of my sails.” At the same time, she was diagnosed with Melanoma Cancer, and spent the year in and out of doctors’ offices working for a full recovery, which eventually came.
For the first time in her life, Paige lost the desire to sing. “Music had always been such a great release for me,” she says, “but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue putting myself through the ups & downs of an artist’s life while feeling so raw.”
She turned to behind the scenes work, digging deeper into her songwriting skills, creating music for more than 200 commercials, television shows and brand-related projects, such as Betty Crocker, Overstock.com, T-Mobile and Bank of America.
She decided to share her experience as an artist through her own podcast, The Breakthrough Artist, and found herself regularly interviewed by entrepreneurs and marketing media, beyond the confines of the music industry.
Over time, Paige felt the heartache subside. Music called, yet again, and Holiday – her first independent album – was released in late 2012. She gathered friends to play instruments and sing backgrounds, reimagining classic carols, and introducing a few new originals. While dipping her toe back into creativity, Paige reconnected with her passion for music, and remembered how great it felt to just sing. “When I say I believe in the healing power of music,” she says, “I know firsthand, it’s true.”
She partnered with producer Jeremy Bose in early 2016 to write and lay the groundwork for Starflower, which was named for her daughter Stella Rose – Paige’s “angel baby” – who was born in 2014. Their collaboration flowed freely, and the album was written and recorded quickly, intuitively, at a studio less than ten minute from where Paige lives. “I didn’t want to overthink it,” she says. “I wanted to say whatever needed to be said, and let it all come out naturally.”
Paige teamed with her fans for support to fund the album through Kickstarter. The crowdfunding process was vastly different from what she experienced in the major label world earlier in her career, where there was a separation, a mysteriousness between artist and audience. “The fans have been the one constant,” she said. “I feel like I’ve gotten to know them well throughout the years, and they’ve been an important part of why I love doing what I do.”
The creative process coincided with new motherhood for Paige, and she feels that the desire to find the balance of a strong family life, while pursuing big dreams, is often represented in her songs.
She cites the legendary Etta James as her all-time favorite singer, and admires the greats, including Annie Lennox and Stevie Nicks (echoes of these artists can be heard in Paige’s vocal style, though her sound is uniquely her own). Paige is currently listening to Yebba, Moins Joli, Leon Bridges and Jorja Smith.
With her own music, she started playing piano at age eight, and by age 10 she was playing in coffeehouses with her brother Chance in and around their hometown of Marietta, Georgia. In high school, she studied Voice, Dance and Theater at the esteemed Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts. By 18, she was touring the country as the lead singer in a professional Top 40 cover band. It was an intensive and invaluable training ground for what would come next – a move to Los Angeles, a short stint as a working musician and demo singer and, ultimately, a launch onto the global stage.
“One thing leads to another,” says Paige. “I’m continuing my story with new collaborations, new music and exciting, new partnerships. For me, that’s what it's all about – challenging myself, going deeper, and expanding what is possible now – in music and in life.”
Jennifer Paige is currently recording in Nashville, TN and is scheduled to release new music in the spring of 2022.
